Hastelloy B3 (UNS N10675, W.Nr. 2.4600, GB NS323/NS3203, JIS NW0675) es la evolucion de tercera generacion de la serie B de aleaciones niquel-molibdeno, diseñada para superar las limitaciones de estabilidad termica del Hastelloy B2. Su aportacion diferencial radica en mantener excelente ductilidad tras exposiciones transitorias a temperaturas intermedias (540-870 °C), habituales durante la fabricacion y tratamientos termicos. Suministrada por SHUNFU METAL bajo certificaciones ISO 9001 y API Q1, con control estadistico de procesos (SPC) en cada etapa productiva.

Perfil de la Aleacion Hastelloy B3

Desarrollada por Haynes International como sustituta mejorada del B2, la Hastelloy B3 incorpora un contenido controlado de cromo (1-3%) y una ventana composicional optimizada de molibdeno (27-32%) que eleva drasticamente su estabilidad termica y resistencia a la corrosion bajo tension. Su diseño de ultra bajo carbono (max. 0.01%) y silicio (max. 0.10%) suprime la precipitacion de fases intermetalicas fragilizantes (Ni4Mo y Ni3Mo) en la zona afectada termicamente, eliminando la necesidad de tratamiento post-soldadura en la mayoria de los casos y permitiendo procesos de conformado mas agresivos que su predecesor. Resiste acido clorhidrico en todas las concentraciones y temperaturas, ademas de acidos sulfurico, acetico, formico, fosforico y bromhidrico. Industrias objetivo: procesamiento quimico fino, farmaceutico, produccion de MDI, herbicidas, pesticidas y control de contaminacion. SHUNFU METAL aplica fusion VIM mas refundicion ESR con analisis por espectrometria OES en cada colada, cumpliendo las especificaciones ASTM B333, B335, B622 y AMS 5542.

Composicion Quimica de Hastelloy B3 (ASTM B333)

Frente al B2, el B3 incorpora cromo intencionadamente (1-3%) y amplia ligeramente la tolerancia de hierro y manganeso para mejorar la estabilidad termica. La fusion en SHUNFU METAL se realiza mediante VIM con analisis OES de todos los elementos en cada colada, verificando conformidad con ASTM B333. Los niveles objetivo internos de carbono y silicio son inferiores al 50% del maximo admisible.

La inclusion de cromo en la matriz Ni-Mo del B3 amplia la pasividad en medios mixtos y mejora la resistencia a la corrosion intergranular. El Ni+Mo total debe ser 94-98%, garantizando la resistencia a HCl. SHUNFU METAL entrega certificado de analisis quimico por colada con valores objetivo internos mas restrictivos que la norma, como parte del paquete documental de su sistema de calidad ISO 9001.

Propiedades Mecanicas de Hastelloy B3 (Recocido por Solucion)

Tratamiento termico estandar: recocido por solucion a 1065-1175 °C con tiempo controlado por espesor, seguido de temple en agua rapido. A diferencia del B2, el B3 mantiene ductilidad tras exposiciones transitorias a temperaturas intermedias durante la fabricacion (soldadura, conformado), lo que reduce el riesgo de agrietamiento y evita la necesidad de recocido post-proceso en la mayoria de los casos. El laboratorio acreditado de SHUNFU METAL, bajo su sistema API Q1, realiza ensayos de traccion ASTM E8 y dureza ASTM E18 en probetas mecanizadas de cada lote.

Comparado con B2, el B3 ofrece valores practicos de resistencia a la traccion superiores (860-885 MPa en condiciones optimas de proceso) y un alargamiento que puede alcanzar el 50-58%. Es imperativo evitar el servicio en medios oxidantes y en presencia de sales ferricas o cupricas, que provocan fallo prematuro por corrosion acelerada. El limite de diseño segun ASME Seccion VIII mantiene el maximo de 427 °C para recipientes a presion.
